Riya is currently an eight grader at Millburn Middle School, where she takes all honors classes, her favorite subject being science.
At school, Riya is a Student Ambassador, Wellness Ambassador, BRAVE peer leader, and Student Liaison for the Board of Education where she works to create a welcoming, inclusive, and healthy school environment for all and represents her peers on various committees.
Riya found her passion for physics through reading books and google scholar articles, and taking online courses.
She is particularly interested in modern physics and research at the intersection of quantum mechanics and computing.
This past summer, Riya published a science fiction book titled The Spacy Timetures of Sparco Tilo to share fifteen of her theories related to the quantum world! Check out the book on Amazon!
Riya is the founder of Girls Troop for ages 11-17 at Boy Scout of America, a Senior Patrol Leader, and a Star Scout.
Under her leadership and with the guidance from adult leaders, the troop has run over forty weekly meetings, organized sixteen community service events, three fundraisers, seven multi-day camping trips, and grown from 5 to 27 scouts (all in ten months)! Several of her troop events have been covered by the local news.
Riya is the co-founder of HerComputing.com, a non-profit aimed to make computing approachable for all.
As a part of the organization, Riya has helped run coding camp, technology workshop, and after-school coding club. Last summer, with her brother, she hosted a one-week coding camp with 55 students where Riya taught a class on game development.
Caroline D. Bradley Scholar - class of 2024; The Caroline D. Bradley Scholarship provides full-tuition assistance for four years of private high school for United States students. This highly selective scholarship chose 28 students across the country this year

Through Scouting, I have been given the wonderful opportunity to speak about the inclusion of girls in Scouts BSA. I have spoken at four events, including two Court of Honors and a proclamation from the mayor of Millburn Township. I have also been invited to speak at the Essex County meeting to represent all county girl troops on Feb 5th, 2020.
I have also performed magic shows at school events attended by an audience of over 300 students and parents.
